Product

How Board Retention works and what it offers.

What is Board Retention by EDF?

Board Retention by EDF is a Moodle 4.0+ plugin that transforms scattered data from your LMS into a unified academic tracking dashboard. It centralizes KPIs, SCORM progress, grades, pending feedback, and at-risk student detection in a single interface.

What kind of reports can I generate?

Board Retention generates detailed reports by course, student, and activity. It includes configurable CSV export, scheduled email reports, and interactive dashboards with 7 teacher KPIs. Reports cover progress, grades, engagement, SCORM completion, pending feedback, and risk signals.

Does Board Retention modify my Moodle data?

No. Board Retention operates in 100% read-only mode. It does not write, modify, or delete any data from your Moodle database. It simply reads and presents existing information in a clear, structured way.

Which user profiles can use Board Retention?

Board Retention is designed for four main profiles: teacher (classroom tracking), student (personal progress view), coordinator (multi-course supervision), and administrator/leadership (executive and institutional reporting). Each profile sees the information relevant to their role.

Does Board Retention work with any Moodle version?

Board Retention is compatible with Moodle 4.0 and above. For earlier Moodle versions, contact our team to assess technical feasibility.

What languages does Board Retention support?

Board Retention is available in English, Spanish, and Valencian/Catalan. The interface adapts to the language configured in your Moodle.

Demo

Get your questions answered before booking your session.

How long does the demo actually take?

The session is designed to last about 30 minutes. That's more than enough time to see the key features and get your questions answered. If you need more time, we can easily extend it.

Is there any cost or commitment for the demo?

No. The initial demo is a no-obligation informational session. We want you to get to know the tool and decide if it fits your needs without any pressure.

Do I need to give access to my Moodle?

Not for the first demo. We run the demonstration on a test environment with simulated data. If you later want to try it on your real Moodle, we'll guide you through the process.

Can my team attend?

Yes, the more the merrier. The demo is most productive when key people attend: academic coordination, IT, and leadership. Together you'll better assess the fit.

What happens after the demo?

If there's a good fit, we offer a free trial on your real Moodle with support during installation and setup. From there, you decide whether to purchase the plugin.

Pricing

Licensing, plans, and contract terms.

How much does Board Retention cost?

Pricing is calculated based on your institution's size and number of active Moodle users. We work with custom pricing to fit each institution. Request a demo and we'll provide a no-obligation quote.

Is there a free version or trial?

We offer a free trial period after the demo so you can validate the product on your own Moodle. During the trial you receive full support for installation and setup.

Do you offer discounts for educational institutions?

Yes, we work with all types of educational institutions: universities, vocational training centers, schools, and academies. Contact us for a quote tailored to your case.

What does the license include?

The license includes the complete plugin with all features, periodic updates, technical support, and access to new versions. There are no limited plans or blocked features.

Can I cancel the license at any time?

Yes, we work with flexible contracts with no mandatory commitment period. You can cancel whenever you need.

Technical

Requirements, compatibility, and deployment.

What are the technical requirements for Board Retention?

Board Retention requires Moodle 4.0 or higher, PHP 8.0+, and MySQL 5.7+ / MariaDB 10.2+. It is a standard Moodle plugin that installs like any other plugin in the ecosystem.

How is it installed?

Installation follows the standard Moodle plugin process: download the package, upload it to your Moodle /local folder, and complete the installation from the admin interface. If needed, our team guides you through the process.

Does Board Retention affect Moodle performance?

No. Board Retention is optimized for minimal performance impact. Queries are indexed and data loading is efficient. Being read-only, it doesn't compete with write operations.

Is it compatible with LTI 1.3?

Yes, Board Retention is compatible with platforms using LTI 1.3 for launching external tools, provided activity data is available in the LMS.

Does Board Retention work with LMS platforms other than Moodle?

Currently Board Retention is designed specifically for Moodle. If you use another LMS like Sakai, Canvas, or D2L, contact us to discuss possible adaptations.

Does it require additional maintenance?

No. Once installed, Board Retention runs autonomously. We recommend keeping it updated to the latest version to enjoy new features and performance improvements.

Security & Privacy

Your data, always protected.

Is Board Retention GDPR compliant?

Yes. Board Retention is designed to comply with GDPR. It operates in read-only mode, respecting Moodle roles and permissions. No data is stored on external servers or shared with third parties.

Where is the data stored?

All data is processed and stored within your own Moodle installation. Board Retention does not send information to external servers or use third-party cloud services for data processing.

What permissions does Board Retention need?

Board Retention uses existing Moodle roles and permissions. Teachers only see their own courses, coordinators see the courses they supervise, and so on. No additional roles are created.

Can Board Retention access be audited?

Yes. By integrating with Moodle, all interactions are recorded in the platform's standard logs, enabling complete access audits.

At-Risk Students

How risk alerts are calculated and used.

How does Board Retention detect at-risk students?

Board Retention analyzes multiple indicators: low progress on activities, below-average grades, prolonged inactivity, missing assignments, and low forum participation. These factors are combined to generate an early risk signal.

Can I configure risk thresholds?

Yes. Detection criteria are configurable. You can adjust minimum progress thresholds, grade baselines, and inactivity days according to your institution's needs.

What can I do when I detect an at-risk student?

Board Retention lets you act directly: send personalized messages to the student, notify the tutor, schedule follow-up meetings, and track risk evolution over time.

Are risk alerts real-time?

Alerts update with each Board Retention access and at the sync frequency you configure. You can receive periodic email notifications about students who have entered risk status.

Does Board Retention predict dropout?

Board Retention does not make predictions; it detects early risk signals based on objective data. We show you the indicators so you, as a teacher or coordinator, can make informed decisions.
